Snake Cages

Snake Cages are an import part of owning a pet snake. They will be the home to your reptile for the extended stay it has with your family. Breeders keep their snakes in multiple racks in order to save space. The pet owner on the other hand will want a beautiful snake cage in order to show off their prized pet.

These snake enclosures can look anything like a 10 gallon fish tank to very ornate wood stands with a glass tank sitting on top. It is all about showing off your snake and being able to see them whenever you want. Plus these cages often have an easy access flip up top so that you can easily send in your frozen mice for your snakes next meal. It makes everything so much easier to have something designed just for your pet.

No matter what type of snake you have, Boa, ball python, corn snake, or garter, there is an enclosure for you. One thing that you will need to consider when looking at snake cages is how much space do you really have to work with. If you have a larger snake like a boa, your tank will need to be of appropriate size to accommodate him. This may take up a lot of room in your house. If this is ok with you, then put it in, however some people don't want snake cages dominating their entire living room.

I have seen some people keep their snakes in some pretty interesting habitat. One that comes to mind is a friend who put together a very remarkable coffee table. The bottom was a glass reptile cage that contained her snakes and on top was the wooden table itself. Now I'm not sure what it took to get into the cage for feeding or cleaning, but I can assure you that it was not an easy task. They would never admit it, but I think they found that this type of habitat was more for show than practicality, then again, that is the thing with a lot of people.

Where do you buy snake cages you might ask? Well any pet store carries some variety of them. You may have trouble finding some larger cages there, but what type of snake are you keeping anyway? Some times you can use a fish aquarium to suit your needs. These come in a variety of sizes and if properly set up the habitat will be just fine for whatever type of snake you decide to get (I like the corn snakes and garter's myself, but whatever you choose is fine with me.)

The other option you have is to go to one of those big name brand makers of custom snake cages. You can get yourself something really nice, and custom made for your home, and if you are a breeder a really nice reptile or snake rack system. But I'm guessing most of my readers are pet owners and not breeders so you will have a lot of great options as well.

One place you will want to look for built to order custom snake cages is Monstercage. These guys have been in the business for a while and really know what they are doing. They have a great reputation around the snake and reptile community and put together some excellent pieces of craftsmanship. Definitely check out their website for some more information and cool pictures of what they can do. Some of them make you want to become a snake breeder just to have a row of those excellent racks. Nice work gents.

Well, this post has gotten awfully long for today and it is almost time for some sleep. Check back here soon as I'll be posting some more great information on Snake Cages for you!
